Among the symptoms of envy

The devils have entrances, tools, and steps to sow discord between couples, affecting each person according to some interpretations. Their tools include magic, envy, temptation, and deception. Only those tested by Allah are affected by these tools, to test their faith in Allah’s ability to protect this universe. Allah says, “And he had over them no authority except that We might make evident who believes in the Hereafter from who is thereof in doubt.” (Quran 34:21)
One of the most intriguing observations in the Quran is that the first term mentioned in the order of the Mushaf (compiled Quran) in Surah Al-Baqarah for the devil refers to human devils. Human devils also have a place in corruption and misguidance, and their tools of corruption are similar to those of the jinn devils. They promote vice and discourage virtue.
We seek refuge from them only by seeking refuge in Allah’s protection, through frequent remembrance, supplication, and acts of obedience. Say: “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak.” Say: “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.” To complete the act of seeking refuge, it is necessary to correct the belief that they cannot harm anyone except by Allah’s permission.
